Changi Airport
Project type
Architecture (Heatherwick Studio)
Date
2018
Location
London
While working at Heatherwick Studio, I was part of the Changi team, contributing to the Arrivals and Retail Packages for Terminal 5. My role spanned both design and making, giving me a hands-on understanding of the project from concept to physical form.
On the design side, I supported the project and package leads with concept development, diagrams, 2D drawings, 3D modelling, and final presentation materials. This experience allowed me to explore design possibilities at an architectural scale while observing how ideas evolve through collaboration with engineers, consultants, and the client team.
As a maker, I was involved in building both prototypes and final exhibition models for Changi T5. I received training in workshop tools and techniques including CNC machining, sandblasting, and spray finishing, enabling me to experiment with form, material, and craft.
This dual role — moving between digital design and physical making — deepened my interest in how tactile processes inform spatial ideas.
